Say Nothing - 2023

In 2023 Andrew completed filming on the nine episode drama Say Nothing based on the book of the same title written by Patrick Radden Keefe. Spanning four decades, ‘Say Nothing’ explores the tumultuous period of the Troubles in Northern Ireland.

The series launches with the shocking disappearance of Jean McConville, a single mother of ten who was abducted from her home in 1972 and never seen alive again. But McConville was only one of many others who became known collectively as The Disappeared. Through the eyes of various IRA members, including sisters Dolours and Marian Price—young women who transformed into magnetic symbols of radical politics, Brendan Hughes—a tight-lipped but conflicted military strategist, and Gerry Adams—a savvy political operator who would go on to negotiate peace but ultimately deny his involvement with the IRA, Say Nothing unpacks the extremes some people will go to within a civil rights movement as they pursue their ideals, the mystery surrounding The Disappeared, the cost of silence, and the way society mends – or doesn’t – after a long and bloody conflict.

Produced by FX Say Nothing will be aired on Hulu in the US and Disney+ in all other territories.

In February 2017 Andrew returned to RTE's 'Fair City' to reprise his role as prodigal son 'Troy Dowling'. Having spent years aways from Carrigstown in Ibiza and London as a  DJ, Troy returns to his family after a  long term relationship breaks down. He struggles to find a home for himself in Dublin. Frustrated by the 'twitching curtains' and gossip of the local community he leaves to give London and love one last try.

Fingal’s Finest

Having completed filming on this project in late 2016 in the role of Richard Mulcahy. 'Fingals Finest' premiered in An Driocht, Blanchardstown, Dublin in 2017 and has run in other venues across Ireland. It is currently being screened at 'Irish Fest' at the Irish American Heritage Centre in Chicago, Illinois, America.

Telling the fascinating and little  known story of Thomas Ashe & the 5th 'Fingal' Battalion of Irish Volunteers.

Fingal's Finest tells the extraordinary story of the actions of Thomas Ashe & the 5th 'Fingal' Battalion, Dublin Brigade of Irish Volunteers during the 1916 Easter Rising in Ireland.

Largely forgotten by history, and by those who tell the tales of the 1916 Rising, the Fingal Volunteers did not lie in wait for the British Army to attack them in the buildings of Dublin City. Instead, they took the fight to their enemy in North County Dublin and Meath, which culminated in the only successful engagement for the rebels during those fateful six days in Easter Week, 1916, when they defeated a superior force of Royal Irish Constabulary at the Battle of Ashbourne.

In 2017, for the first time on film, the story of Thomas Ashe and his men will finally get the attention it deserves.

Filmed in Co Wicklow for Tile Films in 2015 this short has run at film festivals in both Ireland and American. Andrew takes the role of Albert Quinn, an Irish man serving in the British Army returning from the front lines of world war one.

Jubilee Nurse

It is 1918 and the Great War is about to end. Returning soldier Albert Quinn (Andrew Macklin) brings more than just his memories of the devastating life in the trenches of Belgium back to his rural community in Ireland. A tragedy of biblical proportion is about to unfold which will test the strength and resolve of Jubilee Nurse Kitty Malone (Michelle Beamish).

Kitty is at the centre of a turbulent and fast changing period in history. War, revolution, social and political change abound. To be a nurse in any era is a challenge, but to be a nurse operating in a remote part of Ireland in 1918, during a period of upheaval and calamity, was not just challenging but down right dangerous.

Nurse Malone is in a race against time to not only save the lives of Albert and his family but to stop an isolated case becoming a pandemic. Across the world one hundred million will die. The cause...'Spanish Flu'

Jubilee Nurse is a short pilot that is being developed as a TV series to be built around the life and times of Nurse Kitty Malone and the community she cares for.
