Actor
Andrew Macklin is a a classically trained actor working in stage and screen. He is a native of Waterford city, Ireland and a graduate of the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. On stage he has performed with the Royal Shakespeare Company, Out of Joint Theatre, The Abbey Theatre (Dublin), Druid Theatre, The Old Vic Theatre, The Peter Hall company, Project Theatre (Dublin) and has toured the UK & America with Stephen Daldry’s production of ‘An Inspector Calls’ by J.B. Priestly. As a theatre maker he has written and performed a one man show ‘The Baleful Lie’ based on the life of Roger Casement which was staged at the Actors Centre in London and Garter Lane Arts Centre, Waterford. He was artist in residence at A Little Room, Theatre Development Centre in Waterford in 2019. In 2022 he was awarded Irish Arts Council funding under the Agility Award scheme to further develop his theatre making practice. On screen he has played the regular character of Troy Dowling Fair City for RTE as well as appearances in Doctor Who for BBC One, Mr Selfridge for ITV, Say Nothing for FX, Wednesday for Netflix directed by Tim Burton and played ‘Russ’ in screen adaptation of TM Logan’s bestselling novel The Holiday now also available on Netflix.
Career Coach
Andrew is a qualified and ICF accredited career coach and a member of the CDI (Career Development Institute, UK). He has a PGc in Career Theory, Coaching and Counselling Psychology from Birkbeck University, London where his focus was on career development within the creative sector. He also has a Diploma in Transformative Coaching which is accredited by three the worlds leading coaching bodies the ICF, AC & EMCC. He has additional accredited certification in Group Coaching, Narrative Approaches in Coaching and Positive Psychology in Coaching. He is independently accredited by the ICF at the level of associate certified coach (ACC) and is the founder and director of Boundless Careers. He has developed pioneering artist development projects for universities, arts organisations, charities and Ireland’s national development agency Skillnet. He works as a career coach for the Minding Creative Minds organisation who offer free wellbeing and career support services to professionals in the Irish creative sector. He delivered the keynote speech on Career Change and Innovation at Ireland’s inaugural creative career summit in Dublin in 2023. He runs a fortnightly reflective practice group open to all freelancers working within the UK theatre sector for the advocacy group Freelancers Make Theatre Work called ‘Freelance Problem Solving’.
Trainer
Andrew is a widely experienced facilitator and trainer. He is a qualified domestic violence prevention trainer and has worked with the London based charity Tender Arts & Education for 10yrs to deliver hundreds of workshops on the prevention of domestic violence and sexual harassment. He has delivered this training in schools, universities, drama schools as well as many organisations in the public and private sector. As a facilitator and educator Andrew has developed and delivered community based drama projects for some of London’s leading theatre companies including the Old Vic Theatre, the Bush Theatre, HalfMoon Theatre and he is an associate artist with Mousetrap Theatre Projects in the West End. He has taught acting and audition technique as a visiting lecturer at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London. As a learning and development consultant he works with the B Corp organisation Aspire Leadership, London developing and delivering training in leadership, management and communication skills across the public and private sector.
